The MacBook Air M3 15-inch was released in March 2024 alongside the 13-inch model, featuring a M3 8-core chip utilising the latest 3nm technology. Compared to the previous M2 model there is a boost in performance, support for two external displays, improved microphones and faster WiFi 6E.
The main difference between the MacBook Air M3 15-inch and the previous generation is the upgraded M3 processor, which delivers a noticeable overall performance boost compared to the M2 model.
In benchmark testing, the M3 achieves a Geekbench score of 11,807, compared to 9,745 for the M2. Additionally, the M3 supports connecting two external displays when the lid is closed, a capability not available on the M2.
It really depends on how you plan to use your device. For most everyday users, 8GB of unified memory will be sufficient. However, if you often run multiple applications simultaneously or do light professional work, the MacBook Air M3 16GB or 24GB would be more suitable. Before making a purchase always check the memory usage of the software you plan on using.
